Mount St. Helen's

Today I went to Mt. St Helen's. Kind of a spontaneous trip, I guess.

How far did you drive to get there? Could you still see signs of the eruption? Were you sceeeered?

Yes - I was scared! And when I realized that I was scared and maybe should call someone to let them know where I was in case I got buried in rubble - my phone had lost reception - but I trudged on and everything was fine. It took me 2 hours to get to the observatory. Things are starting to grow back (this I know from what the locals tell me) but it has gone from green trees, plant life and animal life to very baren from what I have seen of before and after pics.

Also - maybe you can see from the pictures that there was a continous stream of steam coming out of the dome! (I secretely wanted it to erupt while I was there - you know bragging rights for later in life)

My dear Jocelyne, I am glad you went on your hike in the mountain, but please do not go alone again. Even with someone else along problems could come up. Like hurting yourself or the person with you do some fool thing. Now Jocelyne I know that you have a head on your shoulders, and I want you to keep it there.

Your sweet brother is writing this comment to you so be sure to thank him the next time you see or talk to him. Whitney says she is coming to visit you in April and are thinking about going to Canada, but I think ya'll will have to have your birth certificate or a copy. Ask someone about what to do before going off to Canada.

Jocelyne I love you very much.
